- BICP Role
- Provided pre-construction technical consultation, structural design review, and specialized engineering services for the post-tensioned floor system.
- Key Conditions
- Aircraft MRO hangar: about 25,000 m² floor, largest bay 7,000 m².
Project Challenges
Clean, heavy-load, high-frequency traffic scenarios demand superior flatness, durability, and low maintenance. The floor solution must be evaluated against load, subgrade conditions, production workflow, and lifecycle maintenance.
Proposed Solution
Taiping® offers three integrated floor solutions: post-tensioned integrated floor (for industrial facilities, underground garages and cold storage), UHPC integrated floor, and UHPC long-lasting repair (for cold chain, industrial, and garage applications). Reduced saw-cut joints by 80%, minimizing edge damage, dust, step displacement, and operational interruptions.
Project Details
BICP's Taiping® post-tensioned integrated floor system was applied to the Airbus Aircraft Full-Lifecycle Service Center in Chengdu's Shuangliu District. The center, with a total investment of CNY 6 billion, provides full-lifecycle services including parking, storage, maintenance, upgrade, modification, disassembly, and recycling for various aircraft types. It features two MRO hangars, two material warehouses, an office building, and ancillary facilities, with a planned capacity of 125 aircraft. The Taiping® floor system covered approximately 25,000 m², with the largest single bay in the MRO hangar reaching 7,000 m². BICP assembled a dedicated expert team to collaborate with the China Aviation Planning and Design Institute and the general contractor, China Construction Third Engineering Bureau, on multiple technical rounds. The project utilized the ST-NSM post-tensioned floor anchorage system developed by Anhui Shente Prestressed Materials Co., Ltd., a BICP subsidiary. The Taiping® post-tensioned integrated floor system offers several advantages for hangar applications: reduced joints and cracking, high resistance to heavy loads and deformation, excellent flatness for safe aircraft maintenance operations, strong wear resistance for high-frequency use, and dust-free, easy-to-clean surfaces. Structural costs account for over 75% of total project investment, and the embodied carbon from steel and cement production represents more than 95% of total building carbon emissions.
Delivered Value
About 25,000 m² post-tensioned floor; largest single bay 7,000 m².
