Project Challenges
Traditional floor joints cause edge spalling, affecting forklift and AGV operations; high demands for cleanliness, durability, and low maintenance; need for a solution that considers load, soil conditions, and production workflow.
Proposed Solution
Adopted the Taiping® post-tensioned joint-reduced floor system, which reduces joints by 80% and slab thickness by 20–30%, lowers maintenance costs, improves cleanliness, and shortens construction schedule by one-third.
Technical Implementation
Heavy-duty workshops and warehouses often face issues such as frequent joint cutting (every ~36 m²), uneven load transfer, deformation, cracking, and poor flatness. Long-term use and heavy impacts cause wear and damage, leading to high maintenance costs. Large floor loads make ordinary floors susceptible to differential settlement, resulting in step formation and potential rack misalignment or instability.
The Taiping® post-tensioned joint-reduced floor system offers a solution with spans up to 150 m without joints. Compared to conventional concrete floors, it reduces thickness by 20–30%, minimizes maintenance frequency, lowers lifecycle costs, improves cleanliness by reducing dust, and controls curling and differential settlement. Large-pour construction can shorten the schedule by one-third.
Conventional methods like increasing reinforcement, adding steel fibers, or using expansive agents are passive and cannot fundamentally solve floor cracking. The Taiping system actively applies prestress to deliver a superior, one-time solution.
Project Overview:
Located south of Chunqiu East Road and east of Jingtai Expressway in Qufu, the park has a total floor area of approximately 120,000 m² and a total investment of CNY 800 million. The floor live load is 50 kN/m². The post-tensioned floor covers about 11,000 m², primarily in Building #2 (heavy-duty processing workshop). Based on functional zones, load distribution, soil conditions, and construction requirements, the floor was divided into 5 pours, with the largest single pour area reaching about 3,000 m².
After one year of construction, the project is nearing completion. The Taiping floor achieves a joint-reduced design, maintaining long-term cleanliness, enhanced load capacity, and elimination of differential settlement, fundamentally addressing client concerns.
Summary:
In heavy-duty workshops and warehouses, the Taiping post-tensioned joint-reduced floor system demonstrates clear functional advantages over conventional concrete floors, making it increasingly adopted in such applications.
